The Games

Have you been watching the London Olympic Games? What do you think so far? I'm disappointed that Phelps failed to medal yesterday, but am still hoping he can pull it together for the remainder of his trials. It seemed to be all about the men yesterday with the bike races starting it off and the men's gymnastic teams ending the day. Pretty cool to see how deft they are on the pummel horse and high bar. You'd have to get over a lot of fear to spin around in the air like that. And to run and hurl your body off the pummel horse at such speed, wow, it's pretty amazing to watch.

What I've really enjoyed are the views of England. Yesterday, while watching the bicycle races, I found myself watching all the architecture and countryside that flew by. Also, I was fascinated with the painted street symbols. What does a wavy line in the street mean? Ped crossing? Bus loading? I couldn't figure it out.

What are your favorite events?

Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful Sunday.

Miss Coco is growing up

  1. A wavy line in the street sign was one of the visual questions in my driving test. I got it wrong when I said 'hump-backed bridge', which is pretty similar looking. It turned out to be 'uneven road-surface'.

    Beach volleyball.

    1. Ah yes, Beach Volleyball. I think I know why you watch that . . . : )

  2. Dear Amy, Miss Coco is quite endearing. My favorite sight in London--as I view the television--is the Thames winding through the city. Peace.

  3. Miss Coco has an imperious manner. British road markings are imperious, too, and make me darn glad I'm not my British sister-in-law who drives those roads. And drives in America, too. That's a real woman.

    1. Some people have that ability to separate the two road rules. I'm afraid I'd mess up a bit, and a bit can be too much.

    1. Yes, and she has a pretty disposition to match. She's a great little girl.

  5. I watch the opening ceremonies and closing ceremonies. I love to see the happy faces of the athletes and the pride and happiness they all share in just being there. I am not that interested in watching the the competitions though. My AADD kicks in after about 5 minutes of trying to watch most of them. I will peek in on Michael Phelps though.

  6. I thought the opening ceremony was really cool. Paul McCartney was awesome. I enjoy keeping the Olympics on in the background (at least on the weekend) as I'm working on things around the house. I'm so inspired by these athletes!

  7. I would think that the atmosphere at the Olympic Games must be fantastic. I'm not terribly sporty but have watched bits and glitches of it. Been watching the archery competitions while we were having our lunch. Miss Mexico was competing against Miss India. They were both very good and then a rogue blow of wind took Miss India's arrow off course and she scored a zero. Amy you can imagine what that must have done to her confidence. But she got right back in there and then scored two tens, one right after the other. Miss Mexico got through to the next round but I would think, everyone watching would agree - there were no losers in that match. I think Miss India was brilliant.
