LIttle by little

It's officially looking more like fall. The leaves are changing colors and dropping down--the acorns are dropping down too. Just the other day I saw a squirrel sitting on my fence with his cheeks stuffed. I don't know where his little nest is, but Henry's been on the case all summer.

As summer slowly fades, it's hard to imagine it was ever around. It seemed to last forever, but now all those days at the pool, and sweating it out on long walks with Henry, they're all gone. A chill is in the air, and the sky is a fantastic clear blue.

I'm in the middle of edits. I'm also about to release my album (finally). Both of these are making me nuts, but I asked for it, so I have to take the stress. One thing I know for sure: there just are not enough hours in the day. I went to bed last night exhausted, and woke up like I'd never slept. To combat this, I down a good cup of coffee every morning, do stretches and drink tons and tons of water.

When I get some extra money I'm going to buy my favorite brand of cod liver oil. It's Nordic Naturals strawberry flavor. I absolutely love that stuff. Two teaspoons a day and I feel healthier and my brain works so much better. But, it's twenty bucks a bottle, so . . .

I notice that when I don't get enough sleep not only do I look tired all day, but I get grouchy and I'm less motivated to make the right choices concerning food and exercise, etc. Hopefully tonight I can catch up again!

You guys sleeping? Anyone have any good dreams to share?

  1. Interesting about cod liver oil! I can't imagine anyone taking that stuff on purpose but if it makes you feel better, I can see why. I'm just like that with sleep. If I don't get enough I make unhealthy choices about food and exercise. I'm not one of those people who can function normally on little sleep.

  2. I had that well-known dream that I was eating a giant marshmallow the other night. When I awoke, my pillow had gone.

  3. I sometimes wake up in the middle of night Amy. We go down and get a cup of tea and then back to bed and that usually does the trick. Tell you the truth, I rarely dream but some of them are so weird when I do - like the one I posted on my blog a bit back. It is hard to sleep when you have a lot on your mind - all the best with your edits and your album - they'll both be fine you'll see. Love Molly xx

  4. When this stress of what is going on in your life (and they are big, exciting things!) comes to fruition, sleep will come. Meanwhile, maybe some herbal tea will help.

Remember, this is a good time in your life; your dreams are coming true.

  5. Thanks all. I love you guys, truly.

I took the kids to their school carnival tonight, and then we made root beer floats and popcorn and watched a movie. I'm back to doing dishes like usual, but then it's off to bed. Not a bad night ; ) Maybe a nice dream will come.

  6. If you like the taste of walnuts, try walnut oil. It does the same, and more, than cod liver oil and should be a lot cheaper than $20.

Yesterday I decided to follow my mother's habit of drinking 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day. I had a terrible night. Maybe the vinegar didn't agree with my stomach, or maybe it's just re-adjusting, but I hardly slept at all. Now I don't know whether I should continue or not!

  7. No wonder you're stressed a bit - that's a lot on your plate.

I'm not sleeping well at all! There's a lot of stress in my household these days. Mr TR is getting ready to shoot his next feature film this month and, well... enough said. :)

  9. I can certainly relate to what you shared about getting enough sleep. I remember college; I could do all-nighters and still function well enough the next day. No more. I miss my sleep anymore, I'm toast the next day....and a frothing grouch :)

Wishing you a restful night of sleep!
